Flicking Water Drops

A film which explores the disturbing nature of guilt alongside the healing power of music.

Flicking Water Drops tells the story of a lively, young painter who is overwhelmed by guilt after an accident which leaves another driver blind. She becomes seriously disturbed and withdraws into a colourless and silent world, refusing to speak to friends or family.

A series of sessions with a music therapist - moving from the tap of a finger to explosive improvisations - eventually gives her the strength to face up to the consequences of the crash and take control of her life.

I am interested in how a psyche can be represented in film - through visualisations of mental landscape and through music - and this work plays between the vivid, hallucinatory dreams and paintings of her life before the accident, and the stylised, pallid and vibrating tones of her troubled state.
